PSL 2026: Big Names Withdraw From PSL Just Before Player Auction

Several high-profile international players have officially withdrawn from the PSL 2026, which comes as a significant blow for the tournament.

This development is notable because PSL 2026 is expected to be one of the most exciting editions so far, featuring new teams, fresh league values, and most importantly, the first-ever full players’ auction system in PSL history.

PSL 11 Withdraw Players

Despite these major upgrades, the absence of star players will undoubtedly disappoint PSL fans. Below are the confirmed reasons behind their withdrawals.

  1. Harry Brook, England’s middle-order batsman, has decided to focus fully on his international career. Due to a congested schedule and workload management, he has chosen to skip the Pakistan Super League this season.
  2. Regarding Faf du Plessis, sources had already hinted at his possible unavailability. He is currently suffering from a thumb injury, which has ruled him out of franchise cricket for the time being. As a result, he will not participate in PSL 2026.
  3. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell, widely regarded as one of the best top-order all-rounders in world cricket, will also miss the Pakistan Super League due to personal reasons.

In addition, David Wiese and Matthew Short will not be part of PSL 2026, as both players have cited personal commitments. Notably, Matthew Short has withdrawn not only from the Pakistan Super League but also from preparations related to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, prioritizing other responsibilities.

It is important to mention that the PSL 2026 Players’ Auction is scheduled for 11 February, while Pakistan Super League Season 11 will officially begin on 26 March 2026. With the inclusion of new teams, the upcoming edition is still expected to be highly competitive and entertaining, even in the absence of several international stars.
