PSL 2026 Player Auction Date, Rules and Regulations

The exciting day of the Pakistan Super League, which all PSL fans had been eagerly waiting for, was about when the PSL auction would take place. Finally, that day has arrived, in which we are seeing the PSL auction for the first time. After all franchises completed their retentions, the new phase is the Pakistan Super League 2026 auction, where all teams will complete their remaining squads.

The PSL 2026 player auction schedule will be announced on 11 February 2026.

PSL 2026 Full Retentions & Direct Pick

The PSL franchises have announced the names of retained and direct-sign players, in which they have assigned players to different categories. Each team was allowed to retain a maximum of four players, meaning one player from each category, and after that, each team could add one player to its squad through a direct pick.

According to the deadlines of 3 and 6 February, all teams announced their retentions and direct-sign players, the details of which are as follows.

Lahore Qalandars

Shaheen Shah Afridi was retained in the Platinum category, Abdullah Shafique in Diamond, Sikandar Raza in Gold, and Muhammad Naeem in Silver, while in the direct pick they selected Mustafizur Rahman.

Quetta Gladiators

From Quetta Gladiators, Abrar Ahmed was retained in the Platinum category, Usman Tariq in Diamond, Hasan Nawaz in Gold, while Shameel Hussain was picked in the Emerging category. From Quetta Gladiators, Australian pacer Spencer Johnson was added to the squad through a direct pick.

Islamabad United

Shehzad Khan was retained in Platinum, Salman Irshad in Gold, and Andries Gous was selected in the Silver category. However, no fourth player was retained by them. In the direct pick, they added New Zealand top-order batsman Devon Conway to their squad.

Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi picked Babar Azam in the Diamond category, Sufiyan Muqeem in Diamond, Abdul Samad in Gold, and Ali Raza in the Emerging category. In the direct pick announcement, Afghanistan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz was picked. However, it was later officially announced that he will not be available for the Pakistan Super League 2026 edition. After that, no official name has come forward for Peshawar Zalmi’s direct pick, so this purse will definitely be used in the auction. Their direct retention Aaron Hardie a top Australian allrounder.

Karachi Kings

Karachi Kings retained their main bowler Hasan Ali in the Platinum category, Abbas Afridi in Diamond category, Khushdil Shah in Gold, and Saad Baig in the Emerging category. Karachi Kings added T20 league star all-rounder Moeen Ali to their squad through a direct pick.

Multan Sultans (Rawalpindi)

Rawalpindi Team also announced their retention,s including Multan Sultans captain M. Rizwan, Sam Billings, Zaman Khan & Muhammad Rizwan.

Sialkot Stallionz

Sialkot Steelions is a new team and is going to make its debut in the Pakistan Super League this year. They have included Mohammad Nawaz, Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal, and Saad Masood in their squad as retentions. In their direct pick, stable Australian pacer Steve Smith will play for Sialkot Steelions.

Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen

Hyderabad is the seventh team to be included in the Pakistan Super League, and they have selected top players by including Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, and Aaqib Javed in their squad. In the direct pick, they decided to include Australian top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne in their squad.

These were all the team retentions and direct picks included in the Pakistan Super League. The remaining players will become part of the teams through the auction.

PSL 2026 Auction Rules and Conditions

1. With this mega auction, all players participating in PSL 11 will be signed on two-year contracts, and from next year.
2. Each PSL franchise retains their 4 players and 1 direct pick.
3. All player bidding in the Pakistan Super League will be conducted in Pakistani rupees.
4. The PCB has announced the base prices, according to which the minimum base price for top-category players has been set at 4.2 crore. After this, any team may add its preferred player to the squad through the auction according to its available resources.
5. After that, Category B players, who were previously considered part of the Diamond category, will now fall under the Diamond or Gold category, with a base price of 2.2 crore.
6. The next category’s base price has been set at 1.1 crore.
7. While the final category, which includes players who previously played in the Emerging or Silver category, has been assigned a base price of 60 Lakhs.
8. Each team will be given a total budget of PKR 50.5 crore, which will include retained players, directly signed players, and all players purchased in the auction.
9. Each team squad will be allowed to include a maximum of five to seven foreign players, while the playing XI must include a minimum of three and a maximum of four foreign players.
10. Additionally, each franchise will be required to include two uncapped players in its 23-player squad, and at least one uncapped player must be present in the playing XI.

These rules will help promote new talent and further enhance the appeal of the Pakistan Super League, leading to more exciting matches.
