Multan Sultans Likely to replace M. Rizwan with Salman Ali Agha for PSL 11

Multan Sultans’ new incoming captain is expected to be Salman Ali Agha, replacing Mohammad Rizwan. One of the main reasons for this change is that Multan Sultans will be operating under PCB management in PSL 11.

After the completion of the previous ownership term, there may not have been sufficient time to conduct a new auction, or PCB wants to allow some time before handing the franchise over to new investors.

For this reason, PSL has taken a one year window, and for this season, PCB will manage Multan Sultans directly.

Reasons

The current captain, Mohammad Rizwan, is regarded as one of Multan Sultans’ best batters and a strong leader. However, with Shadab Khan already captaining Islamabad, and Salman Ali Agha also serving as a captain in Pakistan’s national setup, handing leadership to Salman Ali Agha is seen as a key reason behind this possible decision.

This is why PCB is seriously considering appointing Salman Ali Agha as Multan Sultans’ captain under its own management.

At the same time, Pakistan and Islamabad head coach Mike Hesson is also likely to be seen in a coaching role with Multan Sultans.

Further updates are expected soon regarding the final decision on the two new PSL teams.

Once that is announced, fan interest will increase significantly, especially around who will be chosen as captains and who will own those franchises. We will continue to share similar updates.

The PSL 11 auction for the new teams will take place on 8 January in Islamabad Convention Center, while Pakistan Super League season 11 will begin on 26 March 2026.
